Redmi was launched by Xiaomi in July 2013 as a budget smartphone series designed to offer strong specifications at affordable prices. In January 2019, Redmi became an independent sub-brand focused on entry-level and mid-range smartphones, while Xiaomi concentrated more on premium flagship devices.
